These terms explain what you get when you buy, claim or are given an ASM item, what it costs and what happens if something goes wrong. They're part of the Terms of Use. Crates also have their own Crate Rules and Odds. Words such as "ASM item", "mint fee", "network fee", "royalty", "holder", "Mainnet" and "Testnet" mean what the "Words we use" table on the About ASM page says.
Please read sections 4, 6 and 7 carefully. They explain that ledger transactions are final and when refunds apply.
1. What you get
When you buy or claim an ASM item, you get two separate things:
- The token. An NFT on the XRP Ledger, held in your own wallet. You control it: you can keep it, wear it, show it, sell it, give it away or burn it.
- A licence to the art. While you hold the token, you may display and use the item's artwork as our IP and Holder Licence allows. The copyright, designs and brand stay with ASM. The licence moves with the token when you sell or give it away.
An ASM item is a collectible for wearing your style in the Wardrobe, on your profile and in the Offline District. It is not an investment, a share in ASM, a right to income, or a promise of anything in the future. See the Project Disclaimer and Risks.
2. Who issues ASM items
- ASM items are issued by ASM's issuing wallet on the XRP Ledger: rJhLcEZ7wQo36P5zFjbX9gJmnENVFvFD5X on Mainnet. Check the issuer before you buy an "ASM" item from anyone else.
- The issuing wallet signs through a separate signing key (an XRP Ledger "regular key") held by a locked-down signing service. Its master key is kept offline.
- ASM items are created transferable and can't be burned or taken back by ASM. Only the holder can transfer or burn an item.
- Older collections from the ASM founder (such as The Social Circle and the Anti Social Media PFPs) were issued separately and have their own history. These terms cover items sold or claimed through the Services.
3. Prices and fees
| What | Who pays | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Item price | You | Shown in XRP in the Shop before you approve. Regular Shop items are priced by rarity; pets and Super Rare items have their own prices. |
| Mint fee | You | 0.2 XRP per item on Mainnet. ASM charges it to create each item on demand. It's shown next to the price, like shipping, and included in the one total you approve. |
| Network fee | You | Charged by the XRP Ledger for each transaction, usually a tiny fraction of 1 XRP. Shown in your wallet. ASM doesn't receive it. |
| Ledger reserve | You | The XRP Ledger requires your wallet to keep some XRP aside for the NFTs it holds and offers it makes. This isn't a fee: you get it back if you no longer hold the NFTs. The ledger sets the amount, not ASM. |
| ASM's own costs | ASM | ASM pays its own network fees for minting and offering items, and for storing art on IPFS. |
| Royalty on resale | The seller, automatically | 7% of the resale price (section 5). |
- Prices are in XRP. XRP's value in rand changes constantly, so the rand cost of an item can change from day to day. We don't charge VAT, because ASM isn't registered for VAT at the time of writing.
- The total is shown before you sign. The amount in your wallet request is the amount you pay ASM. Check it, and check that the request is for the right network, before you approve.
- Free items (such as the starter set) have no price, but you still pay the mint fee and network fee shown before you claim.
- A release's price and mint fee are fixed once it goes on sale. Testnet releases may show a different mint fee in Testnet XRP.
4. How a purchase works
ASM items are minted on demand: we create each one when you buy or claim it.
- You choose an item and approve the request in your wallet (Xaman or Joey). Depending on the item and wallet, you either accept a priced offer from ASM, which pays and delivers in one step, or send a payment and then accept a free delivery offer.
- ASM's issuing wallet mints the item and creates an offer that only your wallet can accept.
- The item is yours once the acceptance is confirmed on the XRP Ledger.
Holds and expiry:
- A limited edition is held for you for a short time while you check out. If you don't complete the purchase in that time, the hold ends and nothing is charged.
- Each wallet request expires after a few minutes if you don't approve it. Nothing is charged.
- A priced offer for a Shop item stays open for 30 minutes. If you don't accept it in time, it expires, nothing is charged and ASM cancels it and removes the unsold item.
Recovering a delivery: if something stops halfway, use order history in the Shop. We record each step, so a delivery can be finished without charging you twice.
Super Rare and limited editions: some items are made in a fixed number of editions, shown before you buy. When they're gone, that item is sold out and we won't make more of it. A limit applies to that item only; it doesn't stop us releasing other items. Other Shop items have no fixed supply and can be bought until we stop selling them.
5. The 7% resale royalty
- ASM items carry a 7% royalty. It's written into each item when it's minted, using the XRP Ledger's built-in transfer fee.
- When an item is sold through an XRP Ledger offer, for example on xrp.cafe, the ledger automatically pays 7% of the sale price to ASM's issuing wallet.
- It can't be changed for an item once it's minted, by us or anyone else.
- Some earlier items were minted with no royalty, such as the Chapter One backpack reward and items minted before 8 October 2026. Those stay at 0%.
- Gifts and transfers for no payment don't trigger the royalty, because 7% of nothing is nothing.
6. Transactions are final
- Every transaction on the XRP Ledger is approved by you in your wallet and can't be reversed once confirmed, by you, by us or by anyone.
- Burning an item (including opening a crate) permanently destroys it.
- If you send XRP or an item to the wrong place, or approve something by mistake, we can't undo it.
7. Refunds and cancellations
If we get it wrong, we fix it. If you paid ASM and:
- your item was never minted or offered to you, or
- your payment couldn't be matched to an order (for example you paid twice), or
- an item doesn't work in the Wardrobe or game as described, and we can't fix it,
contact us (section 10) with the reference shown on screen. We'll finish the delivery, replace the item or refund what you paid ASM (price and mint fee), in XRP, to the wallet that paid.
Changing your mind. If South African law gives you a right to cancel, such as the 7-day cooling-off right in section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, where it applies, you can use it by contacting us within the time the law allows. To cancel, you send the unused item back to ASM's issuing wallet, and we refund the full amount you paid ASM (price and mint fee), in XRP, to the wallet that paid, within 30 days. You pay the network fee for sending the item back. This can't apply to an item that no longer exists, such as a crate you've opened, because it can't be returned.
Network fees and reserves are paid to the XRP Ledger, not ASM, so we can't refund them.
Your consumer rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 that the law doesn't allow us to exclude are never affected by these terms.
8. Gifts, transfers and selling
- Gifts from ASM: ASM sometimes sends items or crates to people, for example as quest prizes or giveaways. You accept them like any other offer. ASM pays the item's price and mint fee; you pay only the network fee and keep the reserve.
- Sending items to others: you can give an item to another wallet through the XRP Ledger. The new holder gets the item and the licence.
- Selling: you can sell on XRP Ledger marketplaces such as xrp.cafe. Sales are between you and the buyer. ASM isn't part of them and doesn't guarantee them, apart from receiving the 7% royalty.
9. Testnet and Mainnet
- During the closed beta, the Services run on Testnet. Testnet XRP and Testnet items have no value, can't be exchanged for anything and may be reset at any time. They don't move to Mainnet.
- When ASM launches on Mainnet, real XRP is used and these terms apply in full.
- Each wallet request shows the network. Check it before you approve.
10. Help
For help with an order, DM the_oak_ on Discord and quote the order, claim or transaction reference shown on screen. You can also message @0xASMedia on X. ASM will never ask for your secret key, seed or recovery phrase.
